I just found this e-mail that Martha sent because I am trying to make a scrapbook page out of it to add to the book that Aunt Jess gave the girls for Christmas. I thought it would be fun to have in our journal too.
Journal of our Vacation in Midway by Saige and Madisen Remund (really by Grandma Remund)!
July 9 – 19, 2008
We have been talking about going to Midway to stay at Grandpa and Grandma Remunds for a couple of months. We knew Mom and Dad were going on vacation to Hawaii and that we could stay in Midway for 10 days. So we will mention some of the fun things we did while we were there.
We arrived in Midway on Wednesday evening, July 9th, at 6:00 p.m. in our white mini-van with Mom. We had driven from Circleville and we were ready to get out since we had to sit in construction forever in Marysvale. We were excited to finally be at Grandpa and Grandmas. They were so excited too.
Just so you know Kelsi and Tom came for a couple of days and then Rachel and Dean came for a couple of days. Rather than tell every detail we will just put brief statements of our activities. We only spent one night with Jessica because we preferred to be at our Grandparents house which was more familiar to us.
- We fed the ducks at Wasatch Mountain State Park with Kelsi and Tom and then played on the playground equipment.
- Kelsi painted our toenails and fingernails.
- We saw the baby calves and petted them with Grandma Remund
- We rode on the green jeep with Grandpa Remund
- We went on a ride to Kamas with Dean and Rachel then we rode to Park City and saw the movie, Kung Fu Panda. It was a goooooood movie!
- We caught butterflies with Aunt Jess. She bought us butterfly nets!
- We swam in a pool at Aunt Peggy’s on Savannah’s birthday.
- We rode to Cascade Springs and went on a short hike with Rae & Dean, Grandpa and Grandma, Jessica, Hunter, Savannah, and Brinley. We saw little waterfalls.
- We visited Grandma Great and rode on her walker with the wheels.
- We rode the Heber Creeper to Vivian Park with Jess, Hunter, Savannah & Grandma Remund. We ate at the Dairy Keen afterwards. Yummy!!! This was the day we were most tired.
- We watched some videos like the Bee Movie, Little Mermaid, etc.
- We made “Welcome Home” signs for Mom for when we pick her up at the airport
- We saw President Monson, our Prophet, at his house in Midway, and he invited us to ride on his lawnmower with him. He was sooooooo nice. We are so lucky! We love him and told him we would pray for him. (7/17/08)
- We went to King’s Store with Jessica – it was the best store ever.
- We got a snow shack with Aunt Jessica, Hunter, and Savannah.
- We went grocery shopping with Grandma at Days Market and rode in a big cart.
- Grandma pulled us in her wagon and we saw an old dead deer on the side of the road. We know it is in heaven.
- We went to Grandma’s primary but we were nervous so Grandma had to go to Sunbeams with us. If Grandma tried to leave, one of us would cry, then the other one would cry too if she tried to leave again. Grandma helped the teachers and they were glad because they had 15 Sunbeams that day. Wow – no wonder we cried, it was crazy.
- We had a date with Grandma and had pizza and breadsticks at Pizza Hut in Heber.
- We did puzzles, stickers, water coloring, lacing cards, reading, and coloring.
- We went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, saw all the animals, rode the train and the carousel, and had a picnic lunch with Tom and Kelsi, Jessica, Hunter, and Savannah, and Grandma Remund.
- Saige and Grandma had a date one day and went to Ace Hardware, bought stamps at the Post Office, looked at the calves, used Grandma Great’s swings, and rode on the lawnmower. Madisen stayed at Jessica’s and went to the library with Jess, Hunter, and Savannah. Madi had fun playing with Hunter and Savannah.
- We slept together in the big bed upstairs, and we played “question and answer” games with Grandma each night while lying in our bed.
- We said our prayers every night, brushed our teeth twice a day, spit and rinsed, cleaned up after ourselves, and just had a good time. I (Saige) woke up every morning “dry”. We were pleasant and got along the whole time. Thanks for training us so well Mom and Dad.
We fly home to Bakersfield on Monday, July 21st to see our Daddy. We will come back on August 1st for Savannah’s baptism. We are so lucky!!!
